Dog potty training - oh the messes and the smells of what only comes natural!

Dog potty training is a necessity and yet sometimes it seems to get the best of us. Some of the general rules of dog potty training require you to get into a routine with your dog or in most cases, puppy.

Proper clean up of all messes is important so your puppy will not find the area of the mess attractive due to the left over smells. Cleaning the messy areas with an odor neutralizer is a must due to the fact that dogs have these incredible smellers that can pick up on microscopic scents.

Keeping an eye on your puppy may be a problem when you're in the middle of your dog potty training sessions. This is where the dog crate comes in handy. It will allow you to leave your dog alone for times when you just can't keep a close eye on them.

Dog potty training should be done with gentleness and not screaming and hitting. If you catch your puppy or dog making a mess, clap your hands loudly or bang on the wall or table, but never on your pet! The sudden noises sometimes stop them from piddling on the floor. This is the time to pick them up and get them outside where they can finish the job.
